Sybil Granger hires Perry to help her secretly buy shares in her husband’s oil company. Sybil wants to take control of what happens in the company and hopes to push Roxy Howard, her husband’s latest mistress, out of the company and out of the picture.

Sybil spies on Roxy and is caught by George Lutts, another investor in her husband’s company. When Lutts is shot dead, Sybil ends up on trial for murder. Perry has to resort to his courtroom tricks to get her off the hook.
