Boulder Dam / Zane Grey

This story about the building of the Boulder Dam (later renamed Hoover Dam) gives an excellent portrayal of early Las Vegas and the people who built the dam. Of course, there is also the damsel in distress and the hero who gives up everything to start his life over. There are two parts to the book. One is the love story that develops between a wandering soul who ends up at Boulder Dam and the amazing Boulder Dam itself. The love story is entertaining and the protagonist is very likeable. The details about the different jobs at the Boulder Dam are very interesting and there are a few pages about Las Vegas during the construction of the dam.
