Connor MacLeod is born in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century. After recovering from a fatal wound and being banished from his village, MacLeod is found by the swordsman Ramírez, who tells him that they and others were born immortal and are invincible unless they are beheaded. The immortals wage a secret war and fight each other until the last remaining ones meet at the Assembly and fight for the prize. In 1985, the Assembly is finally held in New York City, and MacLeod must ensure that the prize is not won by his oldest enemy, the murderous Kurgan.
